Born in St. Anthonis, the Netherlands Felix grew up hearing mostly classical music. He had a flirt with percussion at a young age and at some point discovered the piano.
Playing back recordings of classical pieces a million times he spend a lot of his time learning the piano by ear.
At the age of 16, he discovered the guitar and shortly after met guitarist Maikel Thijssen. He introduced Felix to jazz music.
It was love at first sight. Playing in different groups his early influences were John Scofield, Jimi Hendrix and Bill Frisell.
When he moved to Nijmegen Felix began organising weekly jam-sessions and played several re-occurring events at local venues like Trianon and Demain.
After a musical encounter with a Sinti-guitarist Felix discovered Django Reinhardt and Jazz Manouche and since then plunged enthusiastically into this musical style.
It combined his love for improvisation and acoustic, intimate music.
Co-founding the band Voyage Sans Fin and playing jazz manouche jam-sessions as much as possible he grew very fond of gypsy jazz.
Visiting Samois sur Seine (the well known gypsy festival in France) was a turning point.
Seeing and playing together with some of the greatest like Dorado Schmitt and Nitcho Reinhardt inspired Felix to become a professional musician.
Recently he had the opportunity to meet the famous Tcha Limberger for lessons, also he co-founded the band ‘Celebrity Hot Tub Party’ with whom he recorded an EP with.
Besides playing as a sideman in different groups Felix is bandleader of ’Hot Club Nijmegen’ and works on his own compositions.
